'Welcome to Kensington: A Palace for Everyone'

Historic Royal Palaces
Due to open May 2012

Fraser Randall has recently been appointed by conservation and heritage charity Historic Royal Palaces to provide the design, project and cost management services for Kensington Palace which is currently undergoing major refurbishment with their £12 million project 'Welcome to Kensington: A Palace for Everyone'.

Parts of the palace currently hidden will be opened up though HRP's ambitious project and new lifts will make it fully accessible for the first time under a first phase basebuild contract. By March 2012 the public will be able to explore the palace's wealth of human stories through imaginative interpretation in the historic interiors. As part of the redevelopment and representation project, FR is co-ordinating and managing five separate new exhibitions, varying from traditional object based displays to artist installations and theatrical interventions.

FR is responsible for procuring the artists and design teams, creating and managing the project schedule to ensure the exhibitions are delivered in sequence, co-ordination with content, conservation and collections teams, cost planning and management of works and install phases of these exhibitions.

Education visitors will benefit from dedicated learning spaces in the palace and there will be dedicated temporary exhibition and community areas.
