Observatories Greenwich
National Maritime Museum, Greenwich
2005, £950k
Fraser Randall was appointed as the Construction and Cost Manager
for the re-fit of the Royal Observatories, Greenwich on behalf
of the National Maritime Museum.
The exhibition consists of 4 galleries detailing discovery, measurement
and use of time from the past and into the future and its impact
from a local to a global scale. One gallery features a working
Laboratory fit-out to allow the National Maritime Museum horologist’s
skills to be viewed by visitors.
The works within the World Heritage Site
of Greenwich Park, involved the Grade 1 listed Flamsteed House,
the Meridian Building, and the Equatorial Building, all of which
required extensive infrastructure alteration to accommodate the
new exhibitions.
